So, as most of my friends know, I have been in Sanibel for the last week. I have enjoyed much needed relaxation and some time to pick up a couple of new books and a couple of new drinks. (Dad makes the most amazing rasberry-lemonaid, frozen drink.) We all have grown accustomed to it, especially around the 3:00-5:00 hours.
Anyway, I started AND finished a book called Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo. I know, sure, you think it probably isn't such a great accomplishment to be proud of, but I haven't come across a book that only took me 3 days to read in a long time, if ever. I always end up putting a book down and "forgetting to pick it back up; i.e. finding other things to do. So, nonetheless, I finished the book and absolutely loved it. Reading this book made me momentarily wish that I had gone into forensics rather than opera. But I soon got over it.
After that, I picked up Tori Spelling's first book, sTori Telling. You might think I'm crazy for picking this one up, but I have been an avid follower of her show on Oxygen Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. Throught viewing the series, I have realized I can relate to a lot of things that Tori goes through in her relationship with her mother. Yeah, yeah--I'm not famous, I know. But as far as her "day-to-day" life goes, I feel like I can relate to her personality. I really admire her for having a family AND trying to maintain a career. I know it's debatable whether or not it was a good one, but at least she tried.
Nonetheless, I have begun reading her book...and despite the rambling and age-jumping, it's not that bad. A stark difference from the murder mystery I just finished.
Anyway, that's enough for now. Back to the beach with some good ol' rasberry drinks.
XO,
Amanda
