Most horrifying/exciting audition experience EVER!

Today, I auditioned for another summer program. Thankfully, this audition was in Boston.
So, this morning, I was on my way to the audition--prepared to be there 3o minutes before my audition so I could warm up and clear my mind. As I was exiting the high way, the ramp was completely iced over. I lost complete control of my car, spinning 360 degrees around.

Instant tears. Instant. I was screaming and crying and a man was nice enough to get out of his car to help me push my car off the ice and make sure that I was okay. It goes without saying that I was late for my audition.

I finally arrived with no time to warm up--but thankfully some very nice girls went before me, giving me time to relax and calm down.

My audition time finally arrived, and I went in--singing what I usually start with. Before the audition, I had taken an aria from one of the operas that this program is doing off of my rep list because it was new, barely memorized, and I was just too frantic to concentrate on something new. So, I sang...and it went well. Then, he asked if I knew the aria (that he had no idea I had taken off my list).....

I kind of smiled and said...."kind of." He says "well, you can sing this role, so I'd like to hear the aria. Just do it."

I took a deep breath....with a "here we go" attitude.

It went as perfect as I could have hoped! Shockingly! So, hopefully the traumatizing ice experience, in the long run, worked in my favor! Yet, I wouldn't recommend attempting traumatizing events before an audition or interview. Hopefully that never happens again!
Meanwhile, I think I'll let my car stay parked for a little bit.
