Opera, Sick, and Friends!

I have finally *I think* become settled with my new surroundings. There are still moments where I get frustrated with the traffic, the people and the inconvenience of this town. But, Boston does have its admirable characteristics.

For the last two weeks, I have been working in the opera for BU's 14th annual Fringe Festival. We are going to be performing Yerma by Paul Bowles. It's based on the play by Ferderico Garcia Lorca. It's a very odd show, and one that I will probably rarely or never come across again. But I still love experiencing new music (well, newish--it's new to me.) And not to mention, the ladies that are cast as "Yerma" are some of the most fabulous, young sopranos I've ever heard. It's so nice and enjoyable to be around so much talent.

Anyway. On a bad note--I think I am experiencing a relapse. My stuffy nose and sore throat are back, and a girl in the cast was diagnosed with strep throat yesterday. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get sick. Also, my best friend, Amy, is coming to Boston this weekend with her boyfriend! I HAVE TO BE WELL! I don't see her often, and I am really looking forward to spending the weekend with her.

Ugh, time to get ready for class. Gross.
I just want to stay in bed until dress rehearsal tonight.
