So...I'm not meant for stage combat

Today was my first stage combat class and let me just say, what an eventful class!!

My legs and arms are SO sore from yesterday. We learned the art of falling. We did front falls, back falls and "banana peel" falls. My knee, ol' gimpy, definitely hates me and hates this class. I had trouble accomplishing ALL the falls...I mean, I am good at falling, but falling with safety and technique--not so much. I really wish I had a video to share will all of you readers. But you will just have to imagine me repeatedly throwing myself on the floor...on my face and on my rear. I'm sure what you imagine would be more hilarious anyway.

I have made some friends. Finally! Besides a small few, I have genuinely liked everyone I have met. And, of course, there are a small few that I just LOVE! So far, so good. Yesterday, I started to feel that things were clicking. I haven't felt like the new kid in a very long time. It's hard to be the new kid--so I am definitely glad I have Katherine Dulweber around to experience all the new things with.

Today is Thursday, and do not have any classes. However, I have an audition for a church choir job. Yesterday, I auditioned for another church job, and...let's just say I am NOT good at sight reading an atonal piece, especially when the director is playing a completely different line.

Since when do church choirs sing 20th century, a tonal pieces!!!! Those pieces are NEVER aurally pleasing...and anyone that is not in music academia would not be able to appreciate it!! (Well, there might be a few...but I'm sure only a very, very small few.)

Anyway, needless to say, I didn't get the job. And I got this huge lecture as to how singers should always know how to read music, bla bla bla. I KNOW HOW TO READ MUSIC!! But, I'm sure every singer is on my side when I say that reading atonal music is freakin' HARD! And...for a CHURCH JOB! I've been ranting all night about this to my roommates, but I thought I'd rant one more time...And now I'm finished.

Onward to another church job audition. I just hope this one was not like the last :)
