Settling in Boston

I am finally moved in and settled in Boston! How exciting!  The trip was fun and it was so wonderful to spend a week and a half with Andrew traveling across the country. We stopped at some great places, including Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis. I'm glad I don't live in Memphis-if I did, I would eat Gus's Fried Chicken EVERY DAY. I swear, it was so addicting, almost like it had crack on it! SO GOOD! (Not that crack is good, I wouldn't know. I'm just trying to get my point across as to how addicting it was.)

Anyway! We also stopped at Rock Bridge in Virginia...It was very uneventful. VERY. Word to the wise, don't waste your time if you're ever driving through Virginia. But the drive was beautiful and some of the leaves were starting to turn the farther north we got.

My car was loaded down for Jesus. We almost couldn't fit Coco!

On our 3rd day of the trip, we stayed in Washington, DC and did the tourist thing. It was nice and got some great pictures that I will upload them later.

Last Tuesday, we arrived in Boston and I got to move in on Friday. The first thing that went into the new place was my piano. And trust me, I was a nervous wreck as 3 inefficient movers moved it into the second floor flat. But here it is in all its back-breaking glory.

Thank god for NO MORE PRACTICE ROOMS! And I get to teach voice lessons from my home. This will be very nice!

Boston has been fabulous so far, but it's so damn hot during the day. I know being from Texas you might find it odd that I am even stating this. But in Texas, we have this nice amenity called air conditioning. Yes, I called it an amenity. Because up here...it is an amenity and it's rare, unfortunately. Oh, and there is only 1 Target around this area...and in Boston has SO MANY universities and colleges. So Target is like a war zone right now. I learned, as I always do, the hard way! Harvard kids might be smart, but they have NO common sense or self awareness when in Target. In fact, I hate them. But some of them are the future's geniuses, so I guess I shouldn't hate them too much.

Here's a picture of my house.

Those stairs are going to be a bitch in the ice and snow.
More pictures to come soon.

I have a theory test this morning. I really want to do well so I don't have to take any remedial classes. But we'll see...wish me luck!

xo,
Amanda
